There was a strong rubber smell so I have been letting it sit out for a few days before trying to sleep on it. That was expected as I have used foam rubber pillows for decades. My one disappointment is that is feels denser and a less soft foam than the pillow I am trying to replace. I did lay my head on it for a bit and it seemed that it may be ok. I will comment more when I sleep on it.
